I usually start these meanderings with a word about the weather. So here goes: Fall is here although summer is resistant to giving up its grip on our temperatures. This is a great time of year, much appreciated by those of us that like to chase around a small white ball and try to get it to go into a slightly larger hole. I hope we have a nice mild winter and let’s have some more rain.
Well, let’s discuss the elephant in the room – the 5th of November. We, our country and God’s people, are at a crossroads. We all know that God places the authorities over us that He desires us to have. It is so hard sometimes to accept this truth when those people over us favor policies that are in direct contradiction to everything we believe in as Christians.
I believe the best way to face this dilemma is with a restatement of some of our core beliefs; first, that we are aliens in this environment. And that we are merely passing by with the knowledge that God is sovereign [another core belief] and that He knows all that is going on. He will not be surprised by the outcome of the election. In fact, He is the ultimate electoral college.
Now none of that means we should be complacent in regard to voting. No, we should vote our beliefs and then let God deal with things the way He sees fit. Proposition 139 in Arizona must be defeated, or more innocent children will die in the womb.
Be proactive, accept the results and then remember to always pray for those over us [another core belief]. You know being a Christian can be tough sometimes. But if we practice our core beliefs, it all makes sense, and it will glorify God.
